De Heide [Soerendonk / Cranendonck]

This is of course also possible in Soerendonck, but I parked my car just in front of the official starting point on the Strijpsedijk, exactly at the point where the route enters the forest. There is a spacious parking lot here.

DIRECTIONS:

A number of parts of the route run on a mountain bike path, which can be very difficult at weekends and especially on Sundays, because the paths are quite narrow. For that reason, those parts are also a bit bumpy, so you have to pay close attention to where you are walking to avoid slipping. Near Cranendonck, about halfway along the route, you will come across a number of picnic tables where you can take a break. The last one I encountered was at the statue of Mary that is also in one of the photos. All in all, the route is quite varied and therefore quite pleasant to walk.

SIGNAGE:

Like most routes, every now and then a signpost is missing, but if you walk straight ahead you are always in the right place. So that's not too bad. However, in Soerendonck I missed a turn and I had no idea how to walk back 400 meters. So I didn't walk the last part of the route, instead I followed the Strijperdijk until I got back to the parking lot.
