Dordrecht is a beautiful old town, ideal to visit by bike. In the Alblasserwaard you can enjoy the peace and space, but also the world-famous Kinderdijk windmills.
Dordwijk estate
The route starts at EuroParcs Resort De Biesbosch. You can have a drink and something to eat at Brasserie De Biesbosch at this holiday park, so that you can set off with enough energy. You drive over car-free dikes between grasslands and fields. Let your legs loosen up while you enjoy the vast landscape. In the middle of the city you drive past the Dordwijk Estate, which was built around 1635. You can cross the Beneden-Merwede by water bus.
Alblasserwaard
You enter the Alblasserwaard via Papendrecht. You pass through the picturesque Oud-Alblas, further on you will see the Kinderdijk Windmills appear on the horizon. They were built in the eighteenth century to improve the drainage of the Alblasserwaard. The mills have been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997. Back in the port of Dordrecht you will see the Grote Kerk with its leaning tower. In the Prinsenstraat you see many old buildings. What a nice atmosphere!
