FORTreffelijk route: Walking along the Eilandspolder

Put on your sturdy walking shoes for a route along ancient polders and through picturesque villages. You can relax your legs along the Markervaart. A little later you look out from the Oudelandsdijkje over the Eilandspolder with its straight plots and reed collars. You can enjoy the peace and vastness here, ideal if you want to relax for a day. Originally this area was an island. Farmers still sometimes have to use a barge to get to their pastures. Along the way you will come across some characteristic farmhouses. In Noordeinde, Graft and West-Graftdijk you can see some beautiful monuments, such as churches and town halls. On the way back you look out over the Markerpolder, which was reclaimed in 1637.
