FORtreffelijk route: Walking along the Eilandspolder

Put on your sturdy walking shoes for a route along centuries-old polders and through picturesque villages. Walk along the Markervaart to loosen up your legs. A little later, you can look out over the Eilandspolder from the Oudelandsdijkje with its straight plots and reed beds. Here you can enjoy the peace and spaciousness, ideal if you want to unwind for a day. Originally, this area was an island. Farmers still sometimes have to use a barge to get to their pastures. Along the way, you will come across several characteristic farmhouses. In Noordeinde, Graft and West-Graftdijk you will see several beautiful monuments, such as churches and town halls. On the way back, you will again look out over the Markerpolder that was reclaimed in 1637.
