The Dutch polders are home to beautiful villages with centuries-old cultural history. This route takes you through Graft, Oost-Graftdijk and De Rijp, three real walking gems.
Hekelhok
A little later you walk into the polder with its ditches and grassy meadows. In Oost-Graftdijk you can see, among other things, the village church from 1840 with a wooden tower. You will also pass a completely wooden workers' house from 1877. Behind this house is a unique fence shed: Generations of Graftdijkers earned a living by racking hemp for rope makers.
The ripe
On the dike along the canal you can get a breath of fresh air while enjoying the peace and quiet and the panoramic views. De Rijp was a prosperous town for several centuries thanks to whaling and herring fishing. You can still see some of that prosperity when you walk past the beautiful old buildings. Shortly after each other you will also pass the two village churches, Sculpture Garden 't Westeinde and Gallery & Sculpture Garden De Eilandspolder.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
