Hiking near Moergestel

You can take a varied walk in the outskirts of Moergestel. You walk through the Brabant countryside, but also through the Oisterwijkse Vennen.

Brandven
It is a quiet walk along this stream, while looking out over the grasslands. You then walk on a car-free road between the fields and meadows. A little later you dive into the woods and walk along the Brandven at your leisure. That used to be different: the water from this fen was used to extinguish fires.

Kolkven
The Kolkven is the largest fen in the Oisterwijk woods. This fen was not blown out by polar winds, but was carved out by the swirling water of an old meltwater river. Grab a bench and enjoy the silence and the smell of bog myrtle. At junction 2 you will pass Zandstraat 5, an authentic small farm from the early nineteenth century. The building is in the top 100 of national monuments!
