From Twente to the German Neuenhaus

The sparsely populated Twente-German border area is ideal for a bike ride. You cycle through a characteristic coulisse landscape and through nice places like Ootmarsum and Neuenhaus.

Dinkel
From Camping aan het Twentepad you cycle into the famous Twente coulisse landscape of rolling fields, woods and fields bordered by hedgerows. The slower you cycle, the longer you enjoy the refreshing Twente peace. You pass through the church village of Vasse, after which you cycle through the forests into Germany. Here too it is nice and quiet to make kilometers through the green. You pass through Neuenhaus, in this beauty located on the Dinkel you can admire many characteristic buildings.

Ootmarsum
Along the edge of the forest, from junction 84, you drive for a while exactly on the border. How many border posts can you count? The Open Air Museum Ootmarsum takes you back to the Twente of the past. In a park-like environment, you will see 18 authentic buildings here. The center of Ootmarsum has managed to preserve many of its historical buildings. The thirteenth-century HH Simon and Judas Church is the only Dutch church built in the Westphalian Romanesque Gothic style. What a nice atmosphere!
