From Twente to the German Neuenhaus

The sparsely populated Twente-German border area is ideal for a cycling tour. You cycle through a characteristic scenic landscape and through nice towns such as Ootmarsum and Neuenhaus.

Dinkel
From Camping aan het Twentepad you cycle into the famous Twente scenic landscape of rolling fields, groves and fields lined with hedgerows. The slower you drive, the longer you enjoy the invigorating tranquility of Twente. You pass through the church village of Vasse, after which you drive through the woods into Germany. Here too it is nice and quiet to travel for miles through the greenery. You pass through Neuenhaus, in this beauty located on the Dinkel you can admire many characteristic buildings.

Ootmarsum
From junction 84 you drive along the edge of the forest for a while, right on the border. How many border posts do you count? The Ootmarsum Open Air Museum takes you back to the Twente of the past. Here you will see 18 authentic buildings in a park-like setting. The center of Ootmarsum has managed to preserve many of its historic buildings. The thirteenth-century HH Simon and Judas Church is the only Dutch church built in Westphalian Roman-Gothic style. What a nice atmosphere!
