From Twente to the German Neuenhaus

The sparsely populated Twente-German border area is ideally suited for a bicycle tour. You cycle through a characteristic bocage landscape and through nice towns such as Ootmarsum and Neuenhaus.

Dinkel
From Camping aan het Twentepad you cycle into the famous Twente coulisse landscape of rolling fields, bushes and fields bordered by wooded banks. The slower you drive, the longer you can enjoy the invigorating tranquility of Twente. You pass through the church village of Vasse, after which you enter Germany through the woods. Here too it is nice and quiet to make kilometers through the greenery. You pass through Neuenhaus, in this beauty located on the Dinkel you can admire many characteristic buildings.

Ootmarsum
From node 84 you drive along the edge of the forest right on the border for a while. How many border markers do you count? The Ootmarsum Open Air Museum takes you to the Twente of the past. In a park-like environment you can see 18 authentic buildings here. The center of Ootmarsum has retained many of its historic buildings. The thirteenth-century HH Simon en Judas Church is the only Dutch church built in Westphalian Romano-Gothic style. What a nice atmosphere!
