Description

Your cycling route starts at Camping't Volgerland, in Numansdorp in the Hoeksche Waard, an island located close to Rotterdam. Oud-Beijerland was founded by Lamoraal van Egmont in the 16th century, and you will see many monumental buildings there. You cycle along the Spui in the direction of the Haringvliet. Outside Oud-Beijerland, you will also discover Zuid-Beijerland and Nieuw-Beijerland today, all three named after Sabina van Beieren, the wife of Lamoraal van Egmont. You also pass beautiful mills such as Landzigt, a corn mill from 1857. To the left of the Oudendijk, near Strijen, you look out over the bird-rich Korendijkse Slikken. You drive on car-free roads through the vast polders, past rows of trees and dikes where sheep graze. You cycle back via's Gravendeel and Puttershoek.
