Lommel is a pleasant old town with a special history. You will discover beautiful nature reserves around it and you can enjoy cycling along the water of the canal.
From Tourism Lommel you quickly cycle out of the city. Here you are right in the middle of nature. You drive briefly into the Netherlands to drive along the Stevensbergen, a slightly sloping nature reserve where heather and coniferous trees alternate. Then you cycle along the rippling water of the Bocholt-Herentals canal. This canal connects the Zuid-Willemsvaart in Bocholt with the Albert Canal in Herentals. It is one of the seven Kempen canals between the Maas and Scheldt.
This route is in the shape of a figure of eight. You can start the morning at the intersection in cozy Lommel with a cup of coffee and join us for a welcome lunch. Lommel is a pleasant town with a history of more than 1000 years. From the beginning of the thirteenth century Lommel was part of the Meierij of's-Hertogenbosch. It therefore still has a Brabant character, you can hear this in the East Brabant accent.
