Description
A beautiful cycle through the polder, over the Roggebotsluis and along the Drontermeer. The Roggebotsluis is a lock on the border of the Dutch municipalities of Kampen (province of Overijssel) and Dronten (Flevoland) and connects the Drontermeer with the Vossemeer. The hamlet of Roggebotsluis is located near the lock complex. The lock is named after a sandbank that used to be located in this area and was called Roggebot. This former sandbank is now located in the Eastern Flevoland polder and was forested by Staatsbosbeheer after its reclamation in 1958.
The Drontermeer is the easternmost of the Veluwerandmeren of the IJsselmeer. It covers 476 hectares and is very shallow outside the shipping channel. The lake borders the Veluwemeer in the south at the Elburg bridge.
The Drontermeertunnel, a railway tunnel that was put into use in 2012, runs under the lake.

To the north, near the town of Noordeinde in Oldebroek, there is a point where the above three provinces meet.
There are three islands in the Drontermeer, on one of which recreation is possible (De Eekt), the other two are nature reserves (Abbert and Reve). Due to the narrow channel and the many trees along the banks, sailors often have problems because there is too little or the wrong wind on the elongated lake.
