Description
With this route you will discover the beautiful old fishing village of Urk. You also enjoy driving along the water of the Ketelmeer and IJsselmeer.
Historic Urk
This route starts at the edge of the Ketelmeer. A little later you can enjoy the views on the dike along the IJsselmeer. Further on you cycle into Urk. The old center enjoys a protected village view, you will experience a wonderful historic atmosphere here. Until 1939, this fishing village was an island in the IJsselmeer, the former Zuiderzee. This island feeling is still alive among the residents, who say they do not live in Urk, but on Urk.
IJsseloog
Take a look around the Vissersmonument, the lighthouse, the Kerkje aan de Zee and the Bethelkerk before you continue cycling towards Emmeloord. In the middle of the water you can see the IJsseloog, a group of artificial islands that have developed into a bird-rich nature reserve.
