The beautiful forests near Tilburg

South of Tilburg, you'll cycle through diverse nature. You'll cycle primarily through the vast forests of the border region with Belgium. You'll also pass through the unique border village of Baarle-Nassau.

New Church
You cycle along the dike through the forest at the edge of the Regte Heide. On the left, you have views of the Krombeemden, a stream valley landscape of flower-filled meadows. Further on, you cycle through the beautiful old forests of Nieuwkerk. In the Belgian part of the hamlet, a border church was built in 1652 where Catholics from Tilburg practiced their faith.

Baarle-Nassau
In Baarle-Nassau and Baarle-Hertog, you can count how many times you cross the border. The borders of the enclaves are clearly visible in the streetscape and sometimes even run right through buildings. In Alphen, you can visit the Alphen Regional Museum at set times. From junction 74, it's pleasantly quiet cycling on the Bels Lijntje, a former railway line. In Tilburg, you'll pass the striking white Palace-Town Hall, and cycle out of the city via Leijpark.
