The beautiful forests near Tilburg

South of Tilburg you can go on a bike ride through the varied nature. You mainly drive through the vast forests in the border area with Belgium. You will also pass through the unique border village of Baarle-Nassau.

New Church
The route starts at Uitspanning & Camping Breehees. Grab a terrace here before you drive over the dike through the forest on the edge of the Regte Heide. On the left you have views over the Krombeemden, a stream valley landscape of flowery hay meadows. Further on you drive through the beautiful old forests of Nieuwkerk. In the Belgian part of the hamlet, a border church was built in 1652 where the Catholics from Tilburg practiced their faith.

Baarle-Nassau
In Baarle-Nassau & Baarle-Hertog you can count how many times you cross the border. The boundaries of the enclaves are visible in the streetscape and sometimes even run straight through buildings. In Alphen you can visit the Regional Museum Alphen at set times. From junction 74 it is nice and quiet cycling on the Bels Lijntje, a former railway route. In Tilburg you pass the striking white Palace-Raadhuis, you cycle out of the city via the Leijpark.
