Description
This beautiful route leads you past the many estates and spacious homes in Wezep and Elburg, on the northern edge of the Veluwe. Along the way you will also discover the fortified town of Elburg.
Estates
This cycling tour starts near the IJselvliedt estate and house. This estate was founded around 1650 and has retained its authentic character. The second attraction on the route is Zwaluwenburg, an estate with a small castle. You will also find the gardens of A. Vogel, which can be visited. The Schouwenburg estate, a little further away, has been inhabited by various noble families over the centuries. The house is now privately owned.
Elburg
Elburg is a town that was originally located directly on the Zuiderzee, but because it regularly flooded, it was moved. During the rebuilding of Elburg it was turned into a real fortress; the intact canals and the Vischpoort are still a reminder of this. So definitely get off! Nearby you can catch your breath at the cozy Teaschenkerij Boerengoed. Inside the tea house or outside in the tea garden, it is always pleasant here.
