Tour of Chaam Forests and Baarle-Nassau

The Brabant countryside around Chaam is a beautiful place to cycle. From the Valkenberg estate, you'll cycle to the centuries-old Prinsenbos forest. Then, you'll cycle through the Chaamse Bossen forests. This was once a rugged area of sand drifts and wet heathland, but between 1900 and 1935, the area was reclaimed, including the planting of Scots pine. You'll pass through Alphen, after which you'll cycle southward through a mix of grasslands and fields. A little later, you'll encounter the village of Baarle, which is partly made up of Belgian enclaves: Baarle-Hertog. The Dutch part is called—you guessed it—Baarle-Nassau. Finally, you'll pass through the Strijbeekse Heide and Luchtenburg, a sixteenth-century estate.
