Description

Northwest of 's-Hertogenbosch you walk through the wide polders. You also walk along the Maas and the Engelermeer. Nice to blow away!

Castle
From the Maasdijk you have a beautiful view over the river, the floodplains and the polders. You regularly see a beautiful farm. In Bokhoven you pass the centuries-old Antonius Abtkerk. On the other side of the road you can see a wall that was once part of a fourteenth-century castle. This castle was destroyed by the French in 1794.

Angel Lake
The polder you look out over from the Maasdijk is called the Gelderse Waarden. This area was included in North Brabant during the Gelderland-Brabant border correction of 1958. You pass Fort Hedikhuizen from 1862. Further on you walk along the Haarsteegse Wiel that was created in 1610 during a dike breach. Over the dike you walk to the leafy Engelermeer: the remains of an old river channel of the Maas from before the thirteenth century.
