Walking through Made and surroundings

Made is easy to discover on foot. Put on your walking shoes for a trip that also takes you through the countryside. You will find plenty of peace here, and you will also pass through the beautiful Drimmelen.

Old Drimmelen
You pass the Hoop Doet Leven, a flour mill from 1867. Opposite this mill is the Holy Blasius Church, which was built in 1930 in the style of the Amsterdam School. You then walk on low-traffic roads between the vast grasslands and fields. Oud-Drimmelen is a hamlet consisting of 9 houses, some of which are beautiful characteristic farms.

Breede Vaart
You walk along the Breede Vaart. Just past the Koekoekweg, a Canadian bomber crashed here on the morning of May 25, 1944. It was on its way back from a bombing raid on Aachen and was shot down by a Messerschmitt plane. Drimmelen is a picturesque town on the dike along the Amer. If you walk through the Herengracht, you will see several monumental houses from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. You walk back to Made through the polder.
