Burgh is a town with a surprisingly ancient history. In the countryside you walk through the largest forest in Zeeland.
Ringwalburg
Enjoy a drink and something tasty on the cozy garden terrace at Pannekoekenmolen de Graanhalm before you set off. You walk along a quiet road between the meadows to the ring rampart that was erected at the end of the ninth century against robbery Normans. The courtyard has been raised and the earthen wall, including the wooden palisades, has been partially restored. It provides you with a nice historical impression.
Soap dunes
You enter Boswachterij Westerschouwen. This is the largest forest in Zeeland, it was planted at the beginning of the twentieth century in the context of job creation. From the former water tower you have a beautiful panorama in this forest. Then you walk through the silent Zeepeduinen. What a beautiful nature reserve! A herd of Shetland ponies grazes between the dune plants to prevent the open plain from becoming overgrown.
