The Slotermeer, a marina: holiday feeling at its best! Balk has a protected village view, you can enjoy the characteristic Frisian atmosphere.
Slotermeer
Of course, you first walk a bit along the banks of the Slotermeer, because that immediately attracts you. Many of the Frisian lakes were created by peat excavations, but the Slotermeer is a natural lake. It is named after the old town of Sloten, a little further on.
Lutsmond Marina
Then you walk through the picturesque centre of Balk. You will experience a wonderful historical atmosphere here. This beautiful village inspired the poet Herman Gorter to write his poem Mei. Along the river De Luts you walk back to your starting point, past the Lutsmond marina, one of the many marinas on the Slotermeer. This is also where the ferry to Heeg departs, a beautiful boat trip!
