Description
Just above Amsterdam you drive through the Waterland National Landscape. Here you will find a unique Dutch landscape and picturesque towns full of wooden houses.
Wooden houses
Along the Nieuwendammerdijk you will see the first series of characteristic wooden houses that you will encounter more often during this route. What a history, beautiful! From the Schellingwouderdijk you have a beautiful view over the water and the boats. On the other side is the Zeeburgereiland, which was constructed at the beginning of the twentieth century.
National Landscape
In the low-lying Waterland you cycle through a landscape of vast grasslands intersected by straight ditches. Really Dutch! What peace you will find here! And picturesque villages such as Durgerdam and Ransdorp where you see wooden houses, bell-shaped farms and beautiful churches.'t Schouw is a former seventeenth-century transfer point for the barge traffic between Amsterdam and Hoorn.
