Walking around Someren-Heide

Around Someren-Heide you can take a walk through some beautiful nature reserves, such as the Somerense Heide. A nice way to relax for a day in nature.

Boundary marker
From the starting point you cross the road and within a few steps you are at a special monument: the keyepoal, or boundary marker. This pole originally stood a little further on the edge of the forest. Toll had to be paid here until 1794, because you crossed the border between Staats-Brabant and the Spanish Upper Guelders. The Somerense Heide consists of rectangular forest plots, tufts of heath and fens. The silence in this nature reserve has an extremely refreshing effect on your mind.

Estate
At De Broeders you can strengthen yourself with a delicious meal before you walk back into the Brabant countryside. You can walk here at ease on low-traffic roads past meadows and fields. You then pass through three affiliated estates: De Vroolijke Jager, de Pan and Boksenberg. You walk here through coniferous forests, along grasslands and across a vast moorland. What a beautiful area!
