Walking around Someren-Heide

Around Someren-Heide you can take a walk through some beautiful nature reserves, such as the Somerense Heide. A nice way to relax for a day in nature.

Boundary marker
From the starting point you cross the road and within a few steps you will reach a special monument: the keyepoal, or border marker. This post originally stood a little further along the edge of the forest. Tolls had to be paid here until 1794, because you crossed the border between Staats-Brabant and Spanish Upper Gelre. The Somerense Heide consists of rectangular forest plots, tufts of heathland and fens. The silence in this nature reserve has an extremely refreshing effect on your mind.

Estate
At De Broeders you can recuperate with a delicious meal before walking back into the Brabant countryside. Here you can stroll leisurely along car-free roads past meadows and fields. You then pass through three affiliated estates: De Vroolijke Jager, de Pan and Boksenberg. Here you walk through coniferous forests, past grasslands and across an extensive heathland. What a beautiful area!
