Enjoy between the Maasduinen and Maasheggen

You will find a lot of cultural history along the Maas. This beautiful route takes you through old towns, unique river dunes and along the Maasheggen.

From Parkhotel Horst you drive to the Schuitwater. This nature reserve is a remnant of several Meuse arms and consists of alder marsh forests, open water and moist grass and hay meadows. On a car-free road you drive past fields and groves along the Maas. At Veerhuys Tante Jet you can enjoy the view of the river and something tasty before you cross the water with a ferry.

Bleyenbeek Castle
You pass Castle Well, then you drive into the Maasduinen National Park. A unique river dune landscape where you drive for many kilometers through the rolling forests and heaths. Here you can see the ruins of Bleyenbeek Castle and the Nooit Gedacht, a flour mill from 1958. On the other side of the Maas you drive along the Maasheggen, an age-old custom to separate agricultural plots. You drive back to the starting point via Landgoed Geysteren and some beautiful church villages.
