Description

Elburg, Hattem, Kampen
The old city of Elburg is full of history. The historic city center, where you can feel, taste and smell the Hanseatic League, is built as a square, so you can't really get lost. There is also a city wall around it that you can walk on. You will encounter the same old atmosphere in the city center of Hattem. The city only received city rights in 1299, which allowed it to join the Hanseatic League in the same year. Thanks to the many historic buildings and the Dijkpoort from the 14th century, you will also feel like you are in the Hanseatic period here. Also take a walk along Knorrenburgerstraat 2 at the foot of the Dijkpoort: this warehouse is one of the best preserved buildings from the Hanseatic period. Kampen has benefited most from the alliance of all Dutch Hanseatic cities. Although the city only became a member of the Hanseatic League in 1441, it became the richest and most powerful Dutch Hanseatic city thanks to its favorable location on the Zuiderzee and the IJssel. The richly designed buildings in the city demonstrate this.
