Description
In the IJssel valley you cycle through a landscape full of natural beauty. You also pass through beautiful villages and see some historical sights.
IJssel Line
You have a beautiful view over the grasslands, reed beds and tufts of trees. Sometimes you can see all the way to the IJssel. There are some beautiful monumental farms along the dike. Just after junction 89 you can see a LAACC bunker from 1952 disguised as a barn on the left. During the Cold War, this served as the command centre of the former IJssellinie.
Coulisse landscape
In Welsum you see Houdt Braef Stant, a corn mill from 1856. With a ferry you cross the IJssel, in the beautiful Olst you pass the medieval village church. Then you drive a semi-open coulisse landscape of meadows, fields and forests. You pass the centuries-old country estate Boxbergen, further on lies the nineteenth-century Huis Nieuw Rande. From the bridge over the IJssel you have a beautiful view of the beautiful surroundings.
