Want to enjoy a day of fresh air in a vast, water-rich landscape? Then go cycling in the northwest of Brabant. You will find a surprising amount of peace and space here.
Sea wall
In this part of Brabant you do not drive through dense forests, but over winding dikes through polders where the threat of sea water lurked for centuries. Sometimes the wind has free rein, sometimes you ride sheltered between a hedge of trees, such as on the Noordzeedijk.
Steenbergen
There are some characteristic villages on your route, such as Stampersgat and Standdaarbuiten. Further on you pass through Steenbergen, a former fortified town with a cozy old center. Fort Henricus is a former fortress from 1626 and has been partly restored. On the Steenbergse Vliet you will see the Benedensas: a restored monumental lock complex from 1824. There are beautiful historic buildings around the lock. From the lock door you have a beautiful view of the Dintelse Gorzen nature reserve.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
