The Reestdal, a real hiking paradise

The Reestdal is a real hiking gem. In this eye-catching old cultural landscape you will find plenty of peace and space. You can also walk a bit through IJhorst and the adjacent forest. From this nice place to stay you can walk straight into the Carstenbos near IJhorst. It is nice to walk undisturbed here, ideal to switch off for a while. On the edge of IJhorst you seem to walk back in time when you pass some monumental old farms. The village church dates from 1823, there is a wooden bell tower. The footpath then leads you into the Reestdal. This winding river forms the border between Overijssel and Drenthe for a few dozen kilometers.
