An eight in Rijpelberg

Just outside Helmond you can walk a figure-8 around the hamlet of Rijpelberg. The first loop leads you through the Bakelse Bos. Then you walk around the wooded Berkendonk recreational area.

Helmond
The oldest forest plot in the Bakelse Bos dates from 1915. The forest is located on former drifting sand, so you mainly walk between Scots pine and other coniferous species. You will also pass some drifting hills. Every now and then you hear the drumming of a woodpecker, seeing it is a different story. You walk along the edge of the forest through the leafy suburbs of Helmond. Halfway you can take a break at Eel Pavilion Rijpelaal.

Berkendonk
When you walk into Berkendonk, you first have a wide view on the left over vast meadows. As soon as you emerge from the first forest plot, you have a beautiful view over a pond and the large lake with reed collars. Further on you walk along the lake, on the right is the stream the Oude Aa. It is wonderfully peaceful to walk along the footpath here. Time for a terrace at Palingpaviljoen Rijpelaal.
