Description

The Hoeksche Waard is an ideal cycling area. In this National Landscape you drive over winding dikes through quiet polders. Along the way you will pass through some picturesque old towns, such as Strijen.

De Swaen
You cycle to Nieuw-Beijerland, where you will see De Swaen, a former flour mill from 1703. You drive through the vast polders on a car-free road. On the left is a long row of trees, on the right against the dike you see sheep grazing, a beautiful scene. To the right of the Oudendijk you look out over the bird-rich Korendijkse Slikken.

Keizersdijk
You pass Landzigt, a flour mill from 1857. Strijen is one of the oldest places in the Hoeksche Waard, you will see beautiful houses and farms. The Keizersdijk that you drive over in Cilaarshoek was part of the main route between Amsterdam and Paris for centuries. To the right of the Zuiddijk you look out through the trees over the fourteenth-century Sint Anthoniepolder, what a beautiful landscape! Finally, the beautiful and cozy Oud-Beijerland is on your route.
