Walking through Oostvoorne and Voornes Duin

The charm of Oostvoorne can be easily discovered with a walk. In the countryside you can walk through the beautiful Voornes Duin.

Voorne Castle
From Eetcafé Centraal Oostvoorne you walk towards the beautiful fifteenth-century village church, the tower dates from 1300. The leafy Village Square is also nice to view, the house with the veranda on the top floor is even reminiscent of New Orleans. There is a beautiful old building on the right on Hoflaan. Behind it lies the restored ruin of the medieval Jacoba Castle, the country residence of Jacoba of Bavaria.

Voornes Dune
A little later you walk into Voornes Duin. This nature reserve is one of the richest dune areas in Western Europe. You will find dunes, flowery dune grasslands, moist valleys and dune forests. You will experience a surprising amount of peace here, despite the fact that Voorne is within the proverbial smoke of Rotterdam. Take a look at the native park at the Tenellaplas Visitor Center: you will find all the biotopes from Voornes Duin together.
