This route takes you along the Hollandse Plassen in the Groene Hart. Enjoy cycling in a vast landscape where you will find plenty of peace and quiet. And beautiful old mills!
Kagerplassen
From Park Wijde Aa you drive to Rijpwetering and Oude-Ade, two picturesque villages. Further on you will pass the Vrouw Venne, a seventeenth-century polder mill. You cross the Kagerplassen to Kaag via a ferry. From the Huigsloterdijk you have beautiful views over the grasslands and windmills. A wonderful Dutch landscape! You pass the Googermolen here. This polder mill from 1717 is the largest round stone ground sailor in the Netherlands.
Aalsmeer
The beautiful Westeinderplassen were created by peat extraction, but were never drained. In Aalsmeer you can learn more about the history of flower growing in the Historical Garden. You cycle along the Kerkpad between the Langeraarse Plassen, where you have beautiful views. You will pass two polder mills: the Vrouwgeest mill from 1797 and the Veendermolen from 1830. In between you can visit the Van Hemessen Museum in Woubrugge at regular intervals. A day full of experiences!
