Description
This route takes you along the Hollandse Plassen in the Groene Hart. Nice cycling in a wide landscape where you will find plenty of peace. And beautiful old mills!
Kagerplassen
From Park Wijde Aa you drive to Rijpwetering and Oude-Ade, two picturesque villages. Further on you pass the Vrouw Venne, a seventeenth-century polder mill. You cross the Kagerplassen to Kaag by ferry. From the Huigsloterdijk you have beautiful views over the grasslands and mills. A wonderful Dutch landscape! Here you pass the Googermolen. This polder mill from 1717 is the largest round stone ground sailer in the Netherlands.
Aalsmeer
The beautiful Westeinderplassen were created by peat extraction, but never drained. In Aalsmeer you can learn more about the history of flower cultivation in the Historical Garden. On the Kerkpad you cycle between the Langeraarse Plassen, you have beautiful views here. You will also pass two polder mills: the Vrouwgeestmolen from 1797 and the Veendermolen from 1830. In between you can visit the Museum van Hemessen in Woubrugge at set times. A day full of experiences!
