The Strabrechtse Heide is the largest heathland in the south of the Netherlands. Taking a walk here is a real experience. You will find peace and space, but also a unique cultural history. For example, just past junction 89 you walk past the Hoenderboom. The boundaries of five municipalities once met here. You recognize this place by the copy of the old border marker. Behind the Hoenderboom lies the Grafven. It is said that some women were once drowned here on charges of witchcraft. The heath is grazed by a herd of authentic Kempen heath sheep. When you encounter the flock and its shepherd, it is as if you have jumped back in time. At Boscafe van Moorsel you can enjoy a cozy terrace before walking through the forest back to the parking lot.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
