Walking across the Strabrechtse Heide is a real experience. You will find peace, space and a unique cultural history.
Sheep herd
From Boscafé van Moorsel you can walk straight into the woods. Enjoy the silence and the fragrant coniferous trees. At node 63 you are suddenly on the edge of the Strabrechtse Heide. You walk along dry and humid heathland, fens and shifting sand. The heath is grazed by a herd of authentic Kempen heath sheep. When you encounter the herd and its shepherd it seems like you are taking a leap back in time.
Celtic fields
Just past junction 89 you walk along the Hoenderboom. The borders of five municipalities once came together here. You can recognize this place by the copy of the old border marker. Some women are said to have drowned in the Grafven on charges of witchcraft. Agriculture was already practiced on the Strabrechtse Heide in the Iron Age: in 2013 remnants of Celtic fields were found here! Through the woods you walk back to Boscafé Pastoorke Van Moorsel.
