Description
Alkmaar is a pleasant town with a rich history. Ideal for exploring by bicycle. In the countryside you drive through the Schermerpolder, a characteristic Dutch landscape with many beautiful old windmills. You start the route at Europarcs Resort de Rijp in West-Graftdijk, a lovely park in nature where you can completely relax. From here you can cycle straight into the polder! You cycle past several windmills, including Korenmolen De Oude Knegt and Noordermolen. In the heart of Alkmaar you can experience the rich history of the town. You will pass four monumental ironing mills from 1630, what a beautiful view! Further on you drive through the tight polders with their straight ditches and vast meadows. Later on the route you will pass the picturesque Grootschemer.
