Description
Alkmaar is a pleasant town with a rich history. Ideal to explore by bike. In the countryside you cycle through the Schermerpolder, a characteristic Dutch landscape with many beautiful old mills. You can then cycle straight into the polder! You cycle past various mills, including Korenmolen De Oude Knegt and the Noordermolen. In the heart of Alkmaar you experience the rich history of the town. You pass four monumental ironing mills from 1630, what a beautiful view! Further on you cycle through the neat polders with their straight ditches and vast meadows. Later on the route you will pass the picturesque Grootschemer.
