Want to stretch your legs? Put on your walking shoes for a trip along the Markermeer and through the polders.

From Europarcs Resort Markermeer you can walk straight onto the Zuiderdijk. Here you walk along the banks of the Markermeer. Enjoy a breath of fresh air, while you hear the water gently lapping. Bring binoculars if you like to spot birds or boats. Just like Flevoland and the Noordoostpolder, this lake should also have been turned into land, but that plan did not go ahead. At the moment, Natuurmonumenten and Rijkswaterstaat are creating a few natural islands in the lake: the Marker Wadden.

The Neighborhood
While walking you will see some beautiful characteristic stolp farms, such as in the hamlet of Tersluis. Along the ditches grow waving reed collars and blades of grass. In the polder not only the ditches but also the roads are straight. Such an endlessly seemingly landscape is ideal to clear your head and focus on the rhythm of your steps. Walking over the leafy De Buurt you will see some more beautiful buildings.
