Tour of flower fields around Schagen

This route takes you through the meadows and flower fields around Schagen. In the season, you can enjoy an unprecedented display of colors when the flowers are in bloom. You'll also pass through several beautiful old towns, such as Schagen and Kolhorn. In the distance, you can see Groote Kaap, a seventeen-meter-high red steel lighthouse. It was completed in 1966 but replaced in 1985. Just past Sint Maartenszee, you can stop at Fluwels Tulpenland if you want to learn all about tulips. In the expansive Zijpe and Hazepolder, you'll see characteristic farms and two centuries-old polder windmills. In the pretty town of Schagen, you'll see the remains of the centuries-old Schagen Castle, which was demolished in 1920. In picturesque Kolhorn, you'll find the De Turfschuur museum.
