Buikheide and Grootmeer Walking Route

From the farm terrace and viewing stable at Hoeve De Nachtegaal, you walk straight into the Brabant countryside. The first part of the route takes you along the edge of the Buikheide. To your left, you look out over meadows and fields; to your right, birch, oak, and spruce trees grow. It is wonderfully peaceful here, so you can really relax and clear your head during this walk. In the hamlet of Toterfout, you can enjoy a delicious lunch at Gasterij Dorpsgenot, after which you walk back into the woods. Between Toterfout and Halfmijl, some 34 prehistoric burial mounds were discovered in 1844. Sixteen of them have been restored, and a few of them are located along the path between junction 23 and 50. Finally, you walk to the Grootmeer, a natural fen. At De Nachtegaal, it is time for a cozy drink on the terrace!
