Tour of Dwingelderveld and Orvelte

Your cycle route starts with a cup of coffee at Hotel Het Witte Veen. During this route you cycle through National Park Dwingerveld, the largest wet heathland in Europe. In this National Park you can enjoy an endless, undisturbed horizon. There are more than sixty fens and peat bogs in the Dwingelderveld. In that peat you can find special plants and animals, such as peat moss, bog asphodel, cranberry and lavender heather. In the southeastern corner of the park you will discover the Kraloerheide is also a gem on this route. This area gives a good impression of the old Drenthe esdorpen landscape. Be sure to take a look in the Birdwatching Hut. You cycle back through the Museumdorp Orvelte, a lively village full of historical buildings and old streets where history comes to life.
