Maaseik is a beautiful old town on the banks of the Maas. From here you can drive straight into the Maas valley with its beautiful nature reserves and interesting villages. After getting off, it is nice to stay at the old market of Maaseik.
Bitterweather
The route starts at Toerisme Maaseik. Here you will find plenty of information about this beautiful town and the beautiful surroundings. From the city centre you can drive straight into the fields that lie along the Maas. What peace and space you will find here! Cycling on car-free roads and cycle paths you can optimally enjoy the picturesque Belgian Limburg. You will pass Bichterweerd, a nature reserve that partly consists of a lake created by gravel extraction.
Ohé and Laak
On the other side of the Maas you cycle through the Netherlands. Here too it is wonderful to cycle between the flowery floodplains. You pass the beautiful Grevenbichtermolen which originally dates from 1660. You also pass through Ohé and Laak, two beautiful old villages on the (former) Eiland in the Maas. After getting off you are on one of the most beautiful market squares in Belgium. There are plenty of cozy terraces to end your day in style.
