Maaseik is a beautiful old town on the banks of the Maas. From here you can drive straight into the Maas valley with its beautiful nature reserves and villages worth seeing. After getting off it is a good place to visit the old market of Maaseik.
The route starts at Tourism Maaseik. Here you will find plenty of information about this beautiful town and the beautiful surroundings. From the city center you can drive straight into the lands that lie along the Maas. What peace and space you will find here! Cycling on low-traffic roads and cycle paths, you can optimally enjoy the picturesque Belgian Limburg. You pass Bichterweerd, a nature reserve that partly consists of a puddle created by gravel extraction.
Ohé and Laak
You drive through the Netherlands on the other side of the Maas. Here, too, it is wonderful to cycle between the flowery floodplains. You pass the beautiful Grevenbichtermolen, which originally dates from 1660. You will also pass Ohé en Laak, two beautiful old villages on the (former) Eiland in de Maas. After getting off you are in one of the most beautiful market squares in Belgium. There are plenty of cozy terraces to end your day in style.
