Walking on the Buitenlust Estate

The route starts at Boerderij Den Hof, a cozy spot in the middle of the forest. Take a seat on a terrace with a homemade pastry. Don't stay too long, because a beautiful walk awaits you. You walk through Landgoed Buitenlust, which dates back to 1850. This nature reserve owes its charm to the mix of coniferous and deciduous forest and small-scale farmland. So much variety in such a small area, that's a nice walk. After a while you pass Fort De Roovere. This redoubt was built in 1628 on a high sandy ridge. Together with two other forts, this fort was part of the West-Brabant Water Line that had to protect Bergen op Zoom from the Spanish.
