Description
The route starts at Boerderij Den Hof, a cozy spot in the middle of the forest. Grab a seat here on a terrace with a homemade pastry. Don't sit there too long, because a nice walk awaits you. You walk through the Buitenlust Estate, which dates back to 1850. This nature reserve derives its charm from the mix of coniferous and deciduous forests and small-scale farmland. So much variety in such a small area, it makes for a nice walk. After a while you will pass Fort De Roovere. This fortification was built in 1628 on a high sand ridge. Together with two other forts, this fort was part of the West Brabant Waterline that had to protect Bergen op Zoom against the Spanish.
