Cycling through the forests near Bergen op Zoom

This route offers you plenty of peace, space, and nature. You ride through the centuries-old forests of the Wouwse Plantage. Further on, you cycle through the Zoomland Estate. Once a large swamp, it is now a damp forest. You can dismount at Boerderij Den Hof for a pit stop. Fort De Roovere is a redoubt built on a sand ridge in 1628. In Wouw, the former building of Brewery De Ster stands on the Market Square, among other things. A little further on, you can admire the centuries-old St. Lambertus Church, built in Kempen Gothic style. Just after Essen, you ride through the Wildertse Duintjes, a varied forest with varied relief, open spaces, and remnants of heathland. Further on, you can visit the Bakkersmolen museum complex and the Steam and Bakery Museum. The final kilometers take you through the Kalmthoutse Heide.
