Description
From Rheden you take a beautiful tour through some pearls from the rich treasure chest of Gelderland. You cycle through the Veluwezoom National Park, the IJsselvallei and charming Doesburg. A wonderful bike ride of over 55 kilometers!
Postbank
After a climb you arrive at the famous, 90 meter high Posbank. Take the time to take a breather while enjoying a beautiful view.
Doesburg
Doesburg is located at the point where the Oude IJssel flows into the Gelderse IJssel. In the beautifully restored old town you will see many characteristic monumental buildings and shops. The fortifications are also worth seeing. You cycle along the IJssel towards Arnhem. You have beautiful views of the water and the flowery floodplains.
Billion Castle
At the end of the route you cycle past Biljoen Castle, which is located on the edge of Gelderse Velp. This castle was built in the 16th century by Charles of Guelders, the Duke of Guelders and Count of Zutphen around 1530. In 1672, King Louis XIV of France temporarily settled at Biljoen Castle. Afterwards, a beautiful garden and park were created.
