Pioneer path: clog pool at Ammersoyen Castle

Lovely walk in the Bommelerwaard, between Maas and Waal! With this route you will discover the outskirts of Ammerzoden on the basis of a clog path.

Farm De Spijken - B&B - Mini Camping - Kaarsenmakerij is a small-scale accommodation in the Bommelerwaard, between Maas and Waal. You can spend the night at the campsite or in one of the guest rooms. From here you will discover the Baanbrekerpad, a'klompenpad\\\' of 10 kilometers in length through the beautiful rural outskirts of Ammerzoden and Well. It introduces you to the river landscape in all its facets. This area has been through a lot due to flooding and high groundwater!

Ammersoyen Castle
The wheels in the Wellsche Waard are reminders of the countless dike breaches. The De Baanbreker pumping station in 1950 in Wellseind, just off the route, is the namesake of the path. This architectural gem played an important role in the drainage of agricultural land. Walk on to the imposing Ammersoyen Castle, the best preserved moated castle in the Netherlands. You also walk along the Groenhoven estate, built by the then mayor of Kerkwijk in 1842, the year of his marriage.
