Walk through vineyards past the Alblasserwaard Regional Nature Center

The Alblasserwaard is a beautiful authentic, water-rich landscape. You will discover special nature and nice villages, such as Wijngaarden.

Alblasserbos
Your route starts with a cup of coffee at De Krom. Cozy food and drinks. Today you walk through the Alblasserwaard, a lovely green area of mills, extensive meadows with grazing cows and beautiful reservoirs and ditches covered with reeds and cattails. In this vast polder landscape you experience the long history that Holland has with water. At Streeknatuurcentrum Alblasserwaard you will learn everything about what the Nature and Bird Watch does here in the Alblasserbos.

Vineyards
From the entrance to the Alblasserbos you walk to the elongated village of Wijngaarden. This beautiful town is located in the middle of an authentic rural environment. Pollarded willows, ditches, old farms and farm gardens give vineyards a very Dutch look. You will also find a beautifully renovated NH Church there. The Wijngaarden Oudheidkamer is worth a visit, it is managed by the Binnenwaard Historical Association. Back at your starting point, you can enjoy the eel that is caught and smoked by the owner himself!
