Bird paradise Valkenhorst and the Leenderbos

The Leenderbos is beautiful with its slightly curved lanes and fens between the forests and heathland. With this route you will also discover Valkenhorst with its bird sanctuary.

Forest Service
The edge of Leende, an ideal base for your walk through the Leenderbos Forestry. This reclamation forest was created as a job creation project. It is one of the first forests that were deliberately created to also serve as a recreational area, hence the slightly curved avenues.

Falconry
Valkenhorst, a little further away, is named after the falcons that used to be caught here. They were sold to noble courts at home and abroad. Now it is a bird paradise. You will also come across the Tongelreep stream, close to the former fishing ponds. These are now a bird sanctuary and partly inaccessible. You continue walking straight through the woods - how wonderful it is to wander through the greenery here! Further on you will find the Brilven, hidden among the heathland.
