Description
It is wonderful to tour through the Achterhoek coulisselandscape. You will discover nice places, beautiful monuments and a picturesque National Landscape around the village of Barchem.
Ruurlo
You drive here through a decor of old ash trees, meadows and wooded banks. Get off in Ruurlo, a friendly town with a beautiful historic center. Here you can see, among other things, the fourteenth-century village church. Also further on, on the quay in Borculo, there are some beautiful monuments to see. Such as the Stenen Tafel, a water mill from the eighteenth century.
Old Shipbeek
Further on you cross the Oude Schipbeek, a tributary of the IJssel. You can fully enjoy the rural beauty here. You cycle a long way along the Twente Canal and then cross to Barchem. Around the village lies the picturesque Graafschap National Landscape with its fairytale vistas, green meadows and dense forests. The hills you see on the right are the fifty-metre high Lochemse Berg and Kale Berg, which are part of the same moraine.
