Discover the Rodebach–Roode Beek nature reserve

A winner for nature lovers, through Nature and Landscape Park Rodebach-Roode Beek. Nature recovery has created a beautiful adventurous hiking area here. A must to experience!

Red Brook
You will discover the Nature and Landschaftspark Rodebach-Roode Beek, a cross-border nature reserve of no less than 750 hectares that extends into Germany. The Roode Beek and Rodebach both flow through the park. The nature reserve is extremely varied and consists of streams, marshes, grassy meadows and forest.

Stream restoration
You can hardly imagine it now, but the old swamp area here was completely drained until a few years ago. The streams had been turned into straight concrete watercourses to drain water from the mining areas and make the soil suitable for agriculture. Local municipalities started together in 2003 to give the water free rein again. Nature was restored on a large scale and you can now reap the benefits as a hiker!
