Ferry route along Maas & Waal

The Maas forms a beautiful nature reserve from Empel to Grave. On the Waal you see large ships. Discover it with this beautiful watery route - with three ferries. You will also discover Waardenburg Castle along the way.

Mary Magdalene Church
You cycle over the dike from Kessel to Lith. You will soon see the Maria Magdalena Church, the tower dates from 1450. You can take a ferry to Moordhuizen. You can get off here for a cozy terrace at Theetuin Onder De Groene Hemel.

Watery route
This route regularly takes you along river banks, wonderful for a summer day. After another ferry you will discover the village of Varik. Here you pass the Dikke Toren: a fifteenth-century church tower, the church has been lost. Waardenburg Castle is located near Neerijnen, with the remains of a late thirteenth-century ring wall on the canal side. On the other side of the river you cycle past the Kil van Hurwenen, a bird-rich floodplain area. In Alem you pass the St. Hubertus Church from 1875.
