Bird watching: Oostzanerveld, Stootersplas and Twiske

The godwit has a beautiful breeding area in the Oostzanerveld, one of the few places in the Netherlands where this endangered species is still doing well. With the Twiske and the Stootersplas you have a nice varied route! This walking route first takes you past the Oostzanerveld, one of the best meadow bird areas in the Netherlands. For example, it is a popular breeding area for the black-tailed godwit, which is rapidly declining in numbers. During your walk you can relax on the cozy lounge terrace on the water of Twiske Haven. Here you see the edge of the Stootersplas, which was created during sand extraction for the Coentunnel. Het Twiske is a varied nature reserve with forests, grasslands and lots of water.
