This route takes you through charming, typical Brabant villages, as well as the vastness of the Kampina heathland. There's even a beautiful castle and its estate on the itinerary!
Nemerlaer Castle
From the starting point, you'll quickly cycle to Nemerlaer Castle, a 13th-century castle surrounded by a moat. On the estate, you'll stroll through a park-like setting with stately avenues. The straightened Essche Stroom stream bisects the estate. A little later, you'll enter Esch, with its typical Brabant village atmosphere.
Oisterwijk
Along the edge of Boxtel, you cycle to Lennisheuvel, another authentic Brabant village. Through the vast Kampina heathland, you enter Oisterwijk, which received city rights as early as the thirteenth century. Its rich history is still evident in the monumental buildings, especially De Lind, the old market square with protected townscape status. In Haaren, besides local farms, you'll also see the Old Tower from 1427 – the accompanying church collapsed in 1780.
