This route starts at City Hotel Nieuw Minerva, located in a sixteenth-century canal house on the Oude Rijn. You are in the middle of the historic center of Leiden, so you immediately cycle past all kinds of sights such as Japan Museum SieboldHuis. This museum houses the most beautiful things from Japan behind a Dutch historic facade. A little further on you cycle past the Hortus botanicus Leiden, the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands. You drive out of the city via Cronesteyn polder park.

What endless views you will find here in the vast polders, so different from the city! In Stompwijk you will see some turning and drawbridges along the canal. Would you like to visit a museum back in Leiden? The route also passes Museum de Lakenhal, located in the Laecken-Halle from 1640. This beautiful historic city palace is one of the most beautiful buildings from the Golden Age. Rijksmuseum Boerhaave offers a glimpse into the world of five centuries of science.
