With this walking route you will discover where the De Stippelberg nature reserve got its name from. You can also walk through beautiful Milheeze with the special church tower.
Nederheide
From here you walk into the beautiful Stippelberg forest area, named after the many sand hills that appear as dots in the landscape. From the end of the 19th century, Douglas fir and Japanese larch were planted here for mining. The dead wood may be left to attract insects, mushrooms and mosses, which attract other animals. Open spaces are being created to give native trees a chance.
St. Willibrordus Church
You walk past farms and meadows to Milheeze. This ancient village was first mentioned in the fourteenth century. When you walk past the Sint-Willibrordus Church, pay attention to the tower: it dates from the fifteenth century. The church was built in 1844 on the foundations of an old chapel.
