Walking through the Wilpse Klei

The Wilpse Klei is a beautiful old farm landscape in the IJssel valley. Put on waterproof walking shoes and come and discover this unique part of the Netherlands.

The route starts at De Kribbe. to eat. drinks. to enjoy. From here you can walk straight into the polder. Here you will find an old agricultural cultural landscape of dikes, orchards, willows and hawthorn hedges. Traditionally, the farms here are located on mounds. Not a superfluous luxury, because at a high level in the IJssel, the Wilpse Klei is used as an overflow area. And the meadows are therefore full of water. For that situation, the farmers even have an amphibious vehicle!

Meadow birds
In the Wilpse Klei it is wonderfully quiet to walk. Ideal to leave the everyday routine behind. From the dike you have beautiful views over the IJssel. In the winter season you can see groups of geese and ducks here, in the spring birds such as black-tailed godwit, curlew and lapwing breed here. On an unpaved path you walk through the meadows to the village of Wilp. At the end of your route it is time for a terrace.
