Harderwijk is a surprisingly charming town on the Wolderwijd. In the area it is wonderful to cycle through the endless nature of the Veluwe. In short, a route that guarantees a wonderful day out.
Picturesque Harderwijk
This former fishing town was once located on the Zuiderzee. You can still see many beautiful buildings from that rich history, such as the fourteenth-century Vischpoort: the only remaining city gate on the waterfront. Further on you will pass the Grote Kerk, a cruciform basilica that partly dates from the fifteenth century.
The Veluwe
From Harderwijk you drive straight into the woods of the Veluwe. Enjoy cycling on winding paths between old deciduous trees and fragrant conifers! That is enjoying nature. You have a beautiful view of the Ermelose Heide. What a silence! After a tour through the open polder landscape, you get off again in Harderwijk.
